Pack it up, pack it in

Let me begin. I came to win, battle me that's a sin...

Just kidding.

It's moving time again around these parts. With so many moves and changes in our recent history, I started taking photos of each of our homes to remember the places we've lived together as a couple. With the exception of our first apartment in Northern CO (which wasn't much to look at), I have successfully documented our lovely abodes to date.

Keane and I first moved in together in 2007. This was a H.U.G.E step for us. I had just graduated from college and he was transferring universities. After having "the talk", we decided it was time. What is this mysterious talk, you ask? Well, we decided that after years (5 to be exact) of being together, then taking a break, then getting back together, then breaking up, that if we were going to do this, there would be no more nonsense from either party. It was a serious commitment we were making at the tender age of 21, but we were confident it was the right one. We told our families (his rejoiced and mine condemned) and began the next chapter of our lives together.

Our first apartment was modest. It was close enough to campus for Keane to roll out of bed in the morning and make it to class in record time. It was also only a five minute jaunt to my job first "real" job as a counselor at a residential treatment center for juvie hoodlums, where I raked in the big bucks at $9.50 an hour.

This apartment held many firsts for us. Aside from it being our first place of cohabitation, it was also the first home for our "dog"hter, Daphne. It was the first place we lived as we explored a new and exciting town. It was our first home as we struggled to figure out how to split the bills, chores, and closet space. It was the first place we returned to as an engaged couple after our Hawaiian vacation.

At first glance, our first apartment was nothing more than a two bedroom, two bathroom, second floor unit with a washer and dryer. But upon closer look? Upon closer look, our first apartment was the place where we began our true journey as adults and made some of our most precious memories as a real, committed, couple.

Since I don't have any pictures of the space itself, here are some pictures of normal life inside that grand ole apartment:

I will return with pictures of our next two places soon!
