Our 1887 Bungalow

Isn't she a beaut?
We are just a few short weeks away from calling ourselves homeowners. Our inspection went really well considering the house is 125 years old. It has a brand new roof, furnace and water heater, a sewer system that was replaced within the last 6 years, updated electrical, and a sprinkler system (what the what?!). On top of that, the seller agreed to pay for a brand new 2 car garage since the current one is in sorry shape. We feel completely blessed.

We have big plans for this house. We chose it knowing we will likely out grow it within 5 years. Keane and I have been scheming for a while now about owning income properties. We love the idea of renters paying off our mortgage so that in 30 years, we are just collecting checks in the mail. We've done our research and that is our plan for this house.

The rental market in this neighborhood is booming. It was literally cheaper to buy this house than it would have been to rent it, which means we will easily make money on it each month when we decide to rent it and move on to something bigger.

In the mean time, it will be ours. We will paint the walls, replace the carpet, plant a garden, and hopefully remodel the kitchen (I'm looking at you, Mr. Ray). Bring on the Saturday morning trips to Ikea and Home Depot. I've never been so ready!
