Who doesn't love a good pair of mom jeans? Me. That's who. Actually, up until recently I haven't really cared for the high-waisted trend at all because it feels like I'm being suffocated.
But alas, I've given in to form over function and found myself a pair of the mommiest mom jeans around. I spotted them at Goodwill for just $3.25 and decided to make some lacy cutoffs out of them.
Here's how it went down.
I picked up 2 yards of eyelet lace for the trim. With forty percent off at Hobby Lobby, it totaled around $5. The lacy shorts I've been seeing on Pinterest have all used delicate lace which surely wouldn't hold up in the wash, so I chose something a little sturdier.
After deciding on my desired length, I cut the legs off and washed the shorts and trim on hot to preshrink. Once dry, I pinned my lace in place, then sewed it to the shorts.
It was a simple redesign, and I have to admit...they're pretty comfortable. But I'm fairly certain my future children will make fun of these pictures someday because my butt appears to be about two feet long.
All in the name of fashion, I suppose.
Happy crafting!
PS. Notice the smokey skies? Fires are still burning everywhere. Pray for rain!
Omigosh. I love those!! Did you hand sew them or machine? You are so fab.
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend! I used a machine, but you could also hand stitch. It would just take longer. Happy Monday :)
