Gobble Gobble

How was your Thanksgiving?! Our's was perfect.  We slept in, got coffee, cooked while John Butler sang to us, drank wine and watched football. It was low key and exactly what we needed.
Keane was a HUGE help in the kitchen. He handled the yucky turkey for me, made the brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, and was responsible for stirring the gravy!! This was truly a momentous event in our household as the typical duties are as follows: I cook, Keane eats.

Seriously though, he was so so helpful and we had a lot of fun doing it all together.

And now, for the obligatory "First Thanksgiving Cooked By Ourselves" plate photo:

On the menu:

-Martha's Roast Turkey with Herb Butter. We opted for a six pound turkey breast for just the two of us and rubbed it with butter, thyme, sage and rosemary. Not to toot my own horn but it was the juiciest, tastiest turkey I've ever had on Thanksgiving. So TOOTS MAGOOTS.
-Maple Syrup and Dijon Mustard Glazed Brussels Sprouts. This is one of Keane's favorite sides I make and seemed fitting for a Thanksgiving meal. It's so easy and so delicious.
-Gma Judy's Famous Corn Casserole. A Thanksgiving classic, one which I could eat as a meal by itself.
-Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. Duh.
-Rolls. Obviously.

For dessert, we had creme brulee (store bought) and coffee.

All of our food came out just as we had hoped and was timed perfectly, which made me very pleased.

Thanks to their very generous papa, the dogs had their own Thanksgiving feast, complete with raw hide bones soaked in turkey juices and gravy. No belly was left empty at this Ray household.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend and spending lots of time doing what they love! Today's agenda consists of swimming at the rec center with ample jacuzzi and steam room time for me (it's 9 degrees outside with wind chill) followed by a Christmas parade downtown tonight and a holiday party at my work.

Let the season officially begin!
